⚠️ STRONG SHOWER WARNING: Gusty winds to 30 knots, locally higher waves, and waterspouts possible over Atlantic waters from Jupiter Inlet to Ocean Reef, 13 nm offshore and beyond. Boaters in that area should seek safe harbor immediately. Showers moving west at 15 knots.

Conditions Headline

Northeastern Atlantic swell and strong easterly winds are building offshore, with rough seas at buoy 41009 (20 nm offshore) reading 8.5 ft and 10-second periods, and buoy 41114 (12 nm offshore) reporting 8.2 ft with 11-second periods. Nearshore, seas drop significantly: buoy 41122 (23 nm offshore) shows 6.2 ft in the Deerfield to Miami zone, while upper Keys waters remain calm at 3.3 ft. A strong shower capable of producing 30-knot gusts is moving westward across the Atlantic waters east of Hillsboro Beach, bringing the potential for waterspouts and brief locally higher waves.

NWS marine forecast (issued this morning for zones AMZ630) warns of gusty winds to around 30 knots and heavy downpours over coastal and offshore waters from Jupiter Inlet to Ocean Reef out 60 nm. The shower is 13 nm east of Hillsboro Beach and moving west at 15 knots. Mariners can expect lightning strikes and locally higher waves. Waterspouts are possible with this activity and remain a threat while the shower moves through.

Narcosis Dive (West Palm Beach) confirmed excellent conditions on March 28: 70–80 ft visibility, 75°F water, no current, and 1 ft waves. Rainbow Reef (Key Largo) reported marginal conditions on March 29 afternoon: 2–3 ft visibility to 40 ft, current beyond 40 ft, and 15-knot easterly wind.

Blue Heron Bridge tide windows today: morning window 6:43 AM–7:43 AM (high tide 2.7 ft at 7:13 AM), evening window 7:06 PM–8:06 PM (high tide 2.8 ft at 7:36 PM). Wind at BHB station 22.9 kt E and water 76.5°F — verify with your operator before entry.

Daily Safety Tip

⚠️ Waterspout Watch & Strong Shower Safety

A strong shower capable of producing 30-knot gusts and waterspouts is moving westward across Atlantic waters from Jupiter Inlet to Ocean Reef. If you see a rotating column of air over the water or funnel cloud, move immediately perpendicular to its path and seek shelter. Boaters should have a safe harbor identified now and move into it at first sign of thunder or rapidly darkening sky. On shore, seek shelter if lightning is within hearing range.

Disclaimer: The Florida Flow aggregates publicly available NOAA forecasts, buoy data, and operator logs. All offshore sea heights are from NOAA buoys 20–60 nm from shore. Nearshore conditions will be smaller and vary by location, bottom topography, and local factors.
